Los ecoturistas han convertido este archipiélago en el corazón verde más visitado del Índico. Las Seychelles – situadas a 1.800 km del este africano–, por su clima y tranquilidad, acogen turistas en cualquier época del año. Si quieres conocerlas a fondo te bastará con visitar estas cuatro islas: Mahé, con su cultura victoriana y comercio en la capital, Victoria; Praslin, donde hallarás la naturaleza más salvaje que imaginarte puedas, en su valle de Mai; La Digue, si lo que buscas son playas tranquilas y excursiones cargadas de tipismo. Por último, si quieres sentirte como un verdadero náufrago del XVIII, llégate a Bird Island, donde te darán la bienvenida un millón de pájaros y las tortugas más viejas del mundo.
Mahé, para ir de compras y chiringuitos
Es la isla más grande de las Seychelles: mide 27 km de largo por 12 de ancho. En Victoria, la capital del archipiélago, descubrirás el bullicio isleño mezclado con el pasado colonial victoriano. En la plaza central hallarás una réplica exacta del Big Ben de Londres. A unos doscientos metros de aquí están concentradas las tiendas, los bares, los dos casinos, discotecas, pubs, y el mercado del pescado (puedes comprar pescados y llevártelos a un chiringuito para que te los preparen). También hay muchas galerías de arte.
La isla de Mahé tiene 75 playas. Si alquilas un coche te resultará muy cómodo recorrerlas. Para los amantes de lo verde hay dos opciones: el Jardín del Rey –a quince minutos en coche del centro de la ciudad–, para contemplar los ejemplares de las palmeras endémicas, y el Jardín Botánico, a diez minutos del anterior, que es “una farmacia al aire libre” : aquí encontrarás todo tipo de plantas medicinales.
La Digue, la más fotografiada de todas

Pero no sólo en Victoria y ni siquiera en la isla de Mahé se puede disfrutar si viajamos a las Seychelles. Las Bahías de Praslin, desde Anse Consolation hasta Baie St.Anne son consideradas de las costas más impresionantes en cuanto a belleza natural se refiere de todo el archipiélago. La Digue, plagada de rocas graníticas de color rosa es otro lugar original para visitar. Allí podremos ver construcciones de estilo criollo de las más destacables de las Seychelles. La bicicleta es un buen medio de desplazamiento en esta zona. Y si lo que nos apetece es bucear en Seychelles tendremos bastantes opciones para practicar esta lúdica actividad. Quizá la más acertada de ellas sea hacerlo en la isla coralina de Desroches, debido a que la fauna marina de la zona de esta isla es de lo mejor que encontraremos en los alrededores. Esquí náutico, pesca de altura y bellos parajes playeros es el resto del atractivo de Desroches. Para los amantes de la naturaleza exótica nada mejor que visitar la isla de Fregate. Con una extensión de tan sólo 2 kilómetros por 0’5 de extensión, se pueden avistar allí hasta 50 especies de aves exóticas únicas en el mundo como el Magpic-Robin o el tordo urraca. Tortugas gigantes o delfines son otros de los protagonistas de la isla y aguas de alrededor. Otras islas con fauna y flora de interés importante son Aride con sus albatros de cola cuneiforme y churrucas de las Seychelles, Cousin con el fody o las escolopendras gigantes o Bird Island donde encontrar nada menos que un millón y medio de pájaros. Felicité es una opción curiosa y original para pasar un mínimo de tres días de vacaciones. The number of islands in the archipelago is often given as 115 but the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles lists 155. The islands as per the Constitution are divided into various groups as follows.

There are 2 coral sand cays north of the granitics: Denis, Bird.

There are 2 coral islands south of the granitics: Coëtivy, Platte.

On Seychelles "the cultural conflict" cannot be by definition. After all the Seychelles people are a fruit of surprising synthesis of various races and blood – Arabs, Portugueses, the French and British colonists, Africans-bows,  Indians, Malayans, Chineses. On Seychelles any ethnic combinations in which result there were Creole people of archipelago were possible. Here there are Creoles of the French origin, Creoles of the British roots, Creoles of the Chinese and Indian blood, and also mulatto and malabar Creoles – all of them are united by Creole language (on the basis of French), strong feeling of a national generality and Catholic religion. Over 90 % of the population profess Christianity, in overwhelming majority Catholicism, presence of Anglican church is appreciable, other Protestant currents are presented also. Moslems, hinduists and Buddhists too are, but in obvious minority.  "The Seychelles mash" has generated amazing culture, syncretic, but at the same time is unique original lines of many civilizations very unlike against each other combining in. For an illustration it is possible to result Alec Voga’s magnificent statement about Seychelles women: "In Seychelles women enough French to have a good figure, English to differ good manners, Asian to be exotic, and African to conceal in itself charm of savageries".

And what miracle – Seychelles music! It combines, apparently, incongruous – music of slaveholders and music of slaves. The French minuets and kontrdances co-exist with mad African rhythms of dance "a ditch sega"  which dance under palm trees by the light of a fire. In violent drumbeat the jingling of an iron triangle, string search of a guitar and rhythmical sounds from stirring of the drawn coconuts with rattling grains inside is intertwined.

The Seychelles kitchen which has incorporated components of the most various culinary cultures (French, English, Indian, Chinese), but "welded" them in own way is not less wonderful. A basis of Seychelles viands – rice and seafood which prepare with spices, vegetables and fruit. (Here one bananas over 15 kinds, and still a mango, kiwi, nuts, avocado, citron.) the most popular dish – fish with rice (pwason ek diri), but tourists, certainly, foods involve much more exotic: soup from an octopus, a breadfruit tree fruit, shatiny from a shark or a stewed banana. Submit even a ragout from a bat, but it for fans of a gastronomic extreme. Among local drinks are well-known dite zitronel – tincture of lemon mint, "kalu" – the fermented coconut juice reminding young wine, "bakka" – fermented juice of a sugar cane, local beer "Sejrbju".
